About Us
Lisa Wright CPDT is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer with 20 years of full time professional dog training experience. Before moving to Athabasca she owned Freedom K-9 College which she operated for 12 years. Freedom K-9 College was a highly successful training facility specializing in pet dog training and positive instruction. Located in Edmonton, the school offered instruction to an average of 100 dogs and their families per week. Lisa has developed many innovative techniques for training dogs and their owners in a positive manner and has enjoyed sharing these techniques with other trainers over the years. She is a popular speaker, having given seminars on positive dog training techniques in Canada, the US, and Europe. She has been a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) for over 15 years and served on their board of directors for 3 years. The APDT is the largest organization of dog trainers in the world. Lisa is an APDT sanctioned level 3 Rally Obedience judge and was fundamental in bringing the sport to Canada. Her dogs have had numerous titles and wins in conformation, obedience, rally obedience, flyball, agility, and herding. Most recently she's been badly bitten by the sheepdog world and enjoys training and trialling her Border Collies for competition at ISDS style sheepdog trials. She shares her home with her husband Travis, cats Antonio and Buster, a number of sheep, and dogs Kate, Hope and Bruce who work alongside her on a daily basis - be it helping with sheep or clients and their dogs.
